Michael Jackson: Why he is the King of Pop

RIP MJ!! your fans will truly miss you... i know that's an overused word already. but when i say miss, i mean, your presence will always be longed by the people you touched.

to make things clear, let me just say that i'm not a die-hard fan of mj. but being a music addict and musically-inclined person plus holliwood updated, i know much about him. and in some ways, i do like his music. he's a genius!

most pop, hip-hop and RnB or maybe all kinds of genre artisit today are influenced by him. beyonce, justin t., chris brown, britney spears, ne-yo, usher, are just some of the popular singers that look up to him.
he's the one that started it all..

-before, music videos are only taken from live performances or shot in a typical singing performance. but MJ started the trend of taping a short movie-like music video in his immortal song thriller. after that, most music videos includes acting already. Wikipedia say that his music videos where the reasons behind the success of the MTV channel.(i didnt know that)
-he's the only artist to sold more than ahoundred million copies of his album world wide which is his thriller album. the next all time best selling album by AC/DC which solds 45 thousand copies. that's not even half of the thriller album. and i personally think that is a record that noone can ever defeat. to think that artists today face the threat of internet dowloading and piracy. most singers today can only sell like around 4-10 million copies of one album. big time singers in the nineties use to sell around 15-20 million copies...tsk2...the total sales of all his album btw is more than 750,000,000.
-he popularized the robot dance moves which is a widely used hip hop step! and no dancer would not know the famous moonwalk! yep, that's is just not another dance move he popularized. its his own signature move.
-justin timberlake, usher, chris brown, and ne-yo would not dance isolation(a kind of dance) with those hats and gloves if not because of MJ..
-his music video for "scream" is the most expensive music video ever. the total cost of expenses in making the video is more 7 million. that much...for just a music video!
-he has 13 grammy's and 13 no. 1 songs
-he is Guinness' most successful artist of all time.that is something beatles, and elvis presly doesn't have! lol
-he donates to 39 charities
-his song "billy jean" is considered as the most revolutionary song of all time. its the most often used song by his impersonators. see the the music video to know why.

these are just some of the reason why he is the king of pop. like i said, i'm not so much a fan of him. but his contributions to the music industry are priceless. yes, my mom idolizes him. and its just recently that i understand why. he's a legend. yes, i can say that his life was not really at its best before he died. all the allegations and controversies took him away from the spotlight. but his legacy will remain and live forever. he somewhat made a standard to be considered an icon. i'm just starting to feel the sadness in losing one of the best entertainer of all time to ever step on earth.


wherever he is right now, may he rest in peace as people he moved will live his music and play it in their hearts forever! as another human being living on earth today, all i can say to Michael Jackson is, you had a good job while you were living! so long....mj
